COLUMBUS EGG: RECOMMENDED FOR BABIES FROM 8 MONTHS

The child’s brain develops strongly after birth, during which time fats are essential for cell membranes, among other things.
With breastfeeding, the mother’s diet still has an influence on the growth and neurological development of the child. If the breastfeeding mother takes in sufficient omega-3, this will have positive effects on the infant, as the child benefits from the fats in the mother’s milk.
From 8 months of age, egg yolks can be introduced into the infant’s diet and from 12 months of age, the baby can also eat the white. In eggs, babies will find an ideal source of protein and omega-3 for their growth.

Did you know that?

A clinical study with Columbus eggs showed that the breast milk of a mother who regularly eats Columbus eggs contains 83% more omega-3 than that of a mother who only eats conventional eggs.

It is often said that breastfeeding is a gift for life. And this can be verified with every passing day!

Main benefits of our baby eggs

An intake of 100 mg of EPA or DHA omega-3 is generally recommended for babies. Because Columbus eggs are 15 times richer in omega-3 than other eggs, one Columbus egg provides 100% of baby’s needs!

The brain is made up of 60% fat, of which 20% are DHA-type omega-3 fatty acids. As the human body is not capable of synthesising them, the essential supply of EPA or DHA type omega-3s must be provided by food.

It is during the first years of life, when the brain develops the most, that the need for omega-3s of animal origin is the greatest. Newborns and children therefore have a crucial need for omega-3 to ensure optimal brain development.
On considère que les besoins en DHA sont :

  • 0-24 months: 100mg DHA/day or 1 Columbus egg yolk
  • From 2 years: 250mg DHA+EPA/day

Because DHA is the main protective constituent of the cell membranes of the retina, it has the particularity of promoting better visual acuity.
By promoting the transformation of the light message into an image, DHA has a positive impact on your child’s vision. They see better and more accurately.
DHA is therefore essential for retinal function and the maintenance of good visual health.
Columbus eggs, naturally very rich in DHA-type omega-3 (6 times more than a traditional egg), are a real ally for the good development of your child’s vision.

Some ideas for baby egg meals

8-month-old baby: vegetable purée with egg. Crumble the yolk of a hard-boiled egg over a well-ground vegetable purée (courgettes, peas, pumpkin, parsnips, etc.).

12-month-olds: omelette, boiled egg, or a more elaborate vegetable flan. A whole egg and a little milk beaten into an omelette. A few vegetables cooked beforehand. Put it all in a ramekin in the oven. Leave to cool well!
