Halloween spider eggs

Halloween Spider Eggs

Halloween is a holiday that many children love because it combines mystery, costumes and treats. On 31 October, people dress up as witches, vampires, ghosts or funny monsters and walk the streets shouting ‘trick or treat!’. Beyond the sweets, it’s also the perfect opportunity to cook as a family. The fun part is preparing dishes that look a little strange but are delicious to eat.

For example, you can turn sausages into monster fingers by cutting them and adding a little ketchup. You can also make spider eggs with sliced black olives or pumpkin-shaped eggs. Halloween then becomes a great cooking laboratory where imagination is the only limit. Between laughter, surprises and funny little scares, this holiday offers children a great opportunity to discover that cooking can also be fun.

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 4 hard-boiled Columbus eggs
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 8 black olives
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  • Peel the eggs.
  • Cut them in half lengthwise.
  • Remove the yolks and place them in a bowl. Arrange the whites in a pretty serving dish.
  • Mash the egg yolks with a fork. While mixing, add the mayonnaise, salt and pepper.
  • Using a spoon, stuff the egg whites with the yolk mixture.
  • Cut the olives in half lengthwise and remove the pit.
  • Reserve 8 halves for the spiders’ bodies.
  • Cut the other halves into 6 strips. Do not keep the strips that are at the ends. So you have 4 strips left that you cut in two each to have 8 legs
  • Arrange the spider bodies and legs on the eggs. Use the illustration as a guide.
