What is an organic egg?

To lay organic eggs, the hens must first be certified organic themselves. They must come from organic farms and have been treated according to organic farming rules since birth.

The hens must then be fed a minimum of 95% organic feed.

For their welfare, the hens must have at least 1 m² per six hens in the henhouse and at least 4 m2 per hen in the outdoor run. In addition, they must have access to the outdoors for at least one third of their lives.

Organic eggs are identified by the number 0 on the tracing code on the egg.

Contrary to popular belief, just because an egg is organic does not mean it has a Nutri-score A. Only Columbus organic eggs have an A in the Nutri-Score. Columbus goes further than organic, respecting the specifications of organic farming and guaranteeing all the positive effects of Columbus eggs on health.
