Chocolate heart-shaped pie

Chocolate heart-shaped pie

Baking a chocolate heart-shaped cake is a lovely way to tell someone you love them. Don’t hesitate to make this dessert to celebrate someone important with tenderness and indulgence. It’s the perfect gift! And don’t worry if you don’t have a mould! We’ll tell you how in our tip.

Ingredients

  • 3 Columbus eggs
  • 120g dark chocolate for the cake + 125g for the ganache
  • 120g butter + some extra for the tin
  • 3 tbsp flour + some extra for the tin
  • 120 g icing sugar
  • 15 cl fresh cream
  • 1 small bowl of strawberries

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Butter and flour a heart-shaped tin (±18 cm in diameter).
  • Break the chocolate into pieces and melt in au bain-marie with the butter. Whisk the mixture until smooth.
  • Whisk in the eggs one by one, then add the flour and, lastly, the icing sugar. Pour the mixture into the tin, smoothing the surface.
  • Bake in the oven at half-height for 20 minutes. Leave to cool when removed from the oven and then carefully turn out (the cake is fragile) onto a dessert dish. Leave to cool completely.
  • Prepare the ganache: break the chocolate into pieces in a bowl. Bring the crème fraîche to the boil, then pour over the chocolate. Whisk the ganache until smooth.
  • Cover the cake completely with a flexible spatula.
  • Decorate with halved strawberries.

Columbus tip

Don’t have a suitable mould? Make a heart-shaped template in cardboard and cut out your cake according to it. Cover the cake neatly with the ganache and you’re done!
