Boiled eggs: Hard, medium or soft boiled
One of the most simple ways to prepare an egg is to boil it in water.
Preparation :
Bring a pot of water to a boil and put the eggs straight from the fridge into the pot. Set the heat temperature between low and medium. The water should be bubbling gently so that the eggs do not break during cooking.
For medium eggs, set the kitchen timer as follows:
- soft yolk: 3 to 4 minutes
- fixed yolk: 5 to 6 minutes
- hard-boiled: 8 to 10 minutes
Reduce the cooking time by about one minute for eggs at room temperature or for smaller eggs, add a minute for larger eggs.
Trick :
Immediately after cooking, plunge the eggs into a container of very cold water.
This stops the cooking and makes peeling easier.
